Lil' Samurai

Lil' Samurai

The Lil' Samurai program focuses on the development of children, ages 4-7, and was built to support the needs of our youngest students. We don't expect a five year old to need to defend themselves in a combative way, nor do we want to teach them aggression. We focus the Lil' Samurai program on age-appropriate skills: situational awareness, , motor skills, balance, coordination, and respect. Our Lil' Samurai learn the importance of staying calm and what steps to take in the event that they get lost or separated from their parents. We teach them to identify potentially dangerous situations and how to respond.

Lil' Samurai learn basic martial arts skills in a safe and responsible environment, which prioritizes motor skills over fighting. They are introduced to judo in balance lessons. They are also introduced to traditional martial arts weapons, such as the bo (staff) and katana (sword) in a fun way!

Lil' Samurai

Finally, Lil' Samurai are taught the importance of discipline and respect. They have homework required before they can test for their new belts. Lessons are in line with the samurai honor code: bushido. They include: honor, respect, integrity, duty, courtesy, honesty, and courage.

Our goal with our Lil' Samurai is to build skills that will benefit them through their childhood and beyond!

Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30pm to 6:00pm.
