Ronin Martial Arts combines the tradition arts of Kempo, Judo, Jujutsu, and Aikijutsu into a self defense art designed for modern times. It uses striking from Kempo to disrupt and set up, and Judo and Jujutsu to neutralize the opponent, with the softer principles of Aiki to enter and transition. Combined with anatomical knowledge, this style intends to cause structural damage to an assailant. All this in while honoring its tradition and providing a welcoming environment.
At Ronin, we believe that understanding violence and self defense is more than just bashing brains in. We strive to arm our students with information as well and martial technique. Our classes are age-appropriate, with safer techniques taught to children, and deeper sociological and legal knowledge for older students. We welcome all students looking to better themselves; our goal being to leave each of our students stronger and more confident that when they first walk in.
Sensei Chris BordelonRonin priotitizes student safety over all else, in the dojo, and on the street. Instructors are background checked and vetted to ensure the students' safety, and avoid the inevitable
egomaniacs that can inhabit the martial arts world.
Other dojos will try to corner you into contracts or marketing schemes to buy branded gear. We don't care about either. Membership is one month at a time. Day one lessons are practical
and usable as soon as the student walks out the door. We strive to understand each student's needs and provide instruction that is best suited for them.
Ronin also understands that no two students are the same. We teach the lessons, and allow the students to determine what is best for them. Testing is more about a student proving they can resolve a conflict with what tools they have, than checking boxes.
